2009 Beagle Walk
My Pages
You raised almost £5,000 for the two charities
Well my friends, what can we say.

You turned out in droves.   You walked, you ate, you drank.   You gave generously not only in money, but in your time and your effort.   There are not enough words of thanks, we can only repeat endlessly

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

We had 80 dogs on the field and around 130 people.   What a sight.   Was it magnificent or was it not!   So many Beagles.   As my friend Eileen from Pets As Therapy said "there's Beagles everywhere"!

A five mile walk sorted a few people (and a few dogs) out.   People told me afterwards that they thought it was a great walk.   Thanks for that, we did actually put a lot of work into it.   It was gratifying to see that there were some tired feet on that field after the walk!   Once again, the catering team were on hand to help out.   Olga, Keith, Margaret and Molly served cake and poured tea all afternoon, bless their little cotton socks.   They saved my life several times with that tea urn I can tell you!

We had a waggiest tail, a prettiest bitch and a most handsome dog.   Maybe not Crufts quality judging, but the dogs were without doubt up there with the best of them.   I am not sure what happened to the Check Check game - my trusty helpers never seemed to get around to setting that up (don't worry, there will be an internal inquiry!), but we had a prize for the person and dog who raised the most money for Beagle Welfare (Josh Walton who raised £165 even though he's only 12 years old!) and a prize for the person and dog who raised the most money for Pets As Therapy (Rachel Taylor with £195).

There was hot bidding on the holiday cottage weekend, which finally sold for a grand total of £190 and then we also auctioned off a beautiful Beagle clock that was also donated to Beagle Welfare.   After some tense bidding on that one, it sold for £35.     ALL proceeds from these two auctions go to Beagle Welfare.

We are delighted to confirm that as long AS YOU ALL SEND YOUR SPONSORSHIP MONEY IN, you raised a total of around £3,300 for Beagle Welfare (with gift aid this should go to over £4,000).   Although the final amount needs to be confirmed in a few weeks, that is nevertheless an amazing amount.     Pets As Therapy walkers raised around £1,000 for their charity (there were of course a lot fewer of those).   Please remember that Helen or Eileen (depending on your charity) need both a cheque made payable to your charity AND your sponsorship form so they can claim gift aid.

I hope you all enjoyed the day.   There will be photos appearing on this site over the course of the next few days as people send them in to me.   Please also take a look at the thank you page which will also be populated over the next few days as time and workload allow me to add material.   A lot of people put a lot of effort into making the day a success and it only comes together on the day thanks to people who baked cakes, who marshalled the walk, who supervised the car parking, who manned the tea urn, who put up the gazebos and then at the end of a tiring day, stayed around to help us take them down.   I really cannot give these people enough credit.

Have a look at the photos on this page, and the next, and if you took any really good ones on the day, please email them to me and I'll add them to the site.

All that is left to say is ...... thank you yet again.   And we'll see you next year folks!
